We have compiled a list of resources that offer a variety of assistance to service members, veterans and their families. 


Health Care and Disability Resources

: The Red Cross helps members of the military, veterans and their families prepare for, cope with and respond to the challenges of military service.

: This center offers readjustment counseling services to veterans and their families.

: The Veterans Wellness Program at Arundel Lodge provides a holistic, person-centered approach in addressing the psychological, social, emotional, physical and environmental needs of military veterans and their families.

: DAV provides assistance to veterans in obtaining and accessing their full range of benefits.

: Fisher House offers flights and housing options for wounded or ill veterans and their families during medical treatment.

: Life A Vet is a 501(C)(3) Maryland-based non-profit that aims to assist veterans and their families worldwide through challenges they may be facing in life, linked to their military service. They offer Veterans mobility and transportation assistance among other services.

: The mission of the National Center for PTSD is to advance the clinical care and social welfare of America's Veterans and others who have experienced trauma, or who suffer from PTSD, through research, education, and training in the science, diagnosis, and treatment of PTSD and stress-related disorders.

: The Cohen Clinic, located in Silver Spring, gives veterans and family members high-quality, accessible and integrated outpatient mental health care. 

: TRICARE is the health care program for uniformed service members, retirees and their families around the world.

: This health care organization provides care and service to Maryland’s veterans. The Baltimore, Loch Raven and Perry Point VA Medical Centers, in addition to five community based outpatient clinics, work together to form this integrated health care delivery system. 

: Call 800-273-8255 and press 1. Text 838255. Use . Connect with the Veterans Crisis Line to reach caring, qualified responders with the Department of Veterans Affairs. Many of them are veterans themselves. The Veterans Crisis Line is free, confidential and available every day, 24/7, to all veterans, service members, and their family and friends. 

: Women veteran program managers are available at each VA medical center nationwide to assist women veterans and coordinate services. Women veterans interested in receiving care at VA should contact the nearest VA medical center.

: The Wounded Warrior Project offers a variety of programs and services to assist veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness or wound while serving in the military on or after September 11, 2001. 

: This fund provides housing and transportation for wounded veterans and their families during recovery. Veterans will be given caregiver support when and where it is needed.


Therapeutic Support

: Fidos for Freedom provides specially trained hearing dogs, service dogs, combat-related PTSD dogs and therapy dogs to individuals with disabilities in the Washington-Baltimore Metropolitan community.

: This unique guitar instruction program benefits veterans struggling with physical injuries, PTSD and other emotional distress.

: MTR’s services use the healing and therapeutic power of horses to improve the physical health and well-being of children and adults with physical, emotional and developmental disabilities. Participants also include veterans and wounded service personnel dealing with post-traumatic stress disorder, traumatic brain injury, depression, anxiety and amputation.

: The Maryland Veterans Service Animal Program provides grants to service animal programs who train service dogs and who provide equine therapy to veterans. 

: Pets for Vets trains and matches shelter dogs and other animals to veterans for support and companionship.

: Veterans Yoga Project, an IRS-recognized 501(c)(3) charitable organization, strives to maintain the honor and commitment our veterans have sworn to uphold. Working in partnership with veterans, active-duty military personnel, student veterans’ organizations, and other non-profit organizations, VYP-trained instructors teach over 100  each week for veterans and their families.

: VWC delivers one-on-one physical therapy and massage therapy treatments for every age and stage of recovery. 

: Live and virtual musical performances by professional singers and musicians showcasing tunes from the '40s, '50s, '60s, '70s and patriotic songs are offered for those living in veterans' homes.


Housing and Employment Resources

: Anne Arundel County Career Centers have dedicated staff who work solely with veterans to help with their job search and career needs. 

: This one-stop website offers help with employment, training and financial help after military service.

: HVRP helps homeless veterans build a foundation for overcoming difficulties with finding long-term housing and employment.

: Job seeker services include career exploration assistance, referrals to training programs, placement services, résumé preparation assistance, and workshops to enhance job seeking skills and work readiness.

: MCVET provides homeless veterans and other veterans in need with comprehensive services, from health care to housing, that will enable them to rejoin their communities as productive citizens.

: Local veterans employment representatives work with businesses, contractors and employer organizations within local areas to develop career opportunities for veterans. This includes Disabled Veterans Outreach Program (DVOP).

: The MWE provides fast access to a complete set of employment tools on one website. 


General Resources

: The Gary Sinise Foundation creates and supports a variety of unique programs designed to entertain, educate, inspire, strengthen and build communities.

: Hope for the Warriors provides comprehensive support programs nationally for service members, veterans and military families that are focused on transition, health and wellness, peer engagement, and connections to community resources.

: Free legal help in civil cases for individuals who do not have a lawyer. 

: The Maryland Food Bank is focused on bringing healthy food to local communities while building pathways to end hunger in Maryland. 

: The United Way of Central Maryland strengthens families and communities by increasing access to basic needs such as health, housing, employment and education.

: Veterans Court or Veterans Treatment Court is a specialized docket for nonviolent residents who served in the armed forces prior to becoming involved in the criminal justice system. Veteran participants are matched with mentors who are also veterans and can provide support and guidance for health, employment, legal, financial, counseling and other services. The  supports Veterans Treatment Courts in Baltimore city and in Anne Arundel County. 

: The Y is a mission-driven, charitable organization in Central Maryland dedicated to developing the full potential of every individual through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all.
