51³Ô¹ÏÍø welding student receives instruction.

51³Ô¹ÏÍø, in partnership with Earlbeck Gases and Technologies, can help you become a welder through state-of-the-art training in STICK, MIG and TIG welding. Help meet the demand for qualified, certified welders in the Baltimore/Washington area and prepare for immediate employment.

Training Overview

Students receive classroom and hands-on training using the latest welding equipment available in the industry. We offer classes in the Clauson Center for Innovation and Skilled Trades at 51³Ô¹ÏÍø in Arnold.

Daytime and evening classes are also offered at the Earlbeck Gases and Technologies Training facility throughout the year. Earlbeck is an American Welding Society accredited-tested facility.

  • Fundamental course: $1,870
  • Intermediate and advanced courses: $2,750
  • GMAW special: $1,717
  • Welding for Work courses: $4,251

Job Outlook

Salaries are highly competitive. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, entry-level welders can make $18 per hour, while experienced welders with multiple American Welding Society (AWS) certifications can double or triple their wages.

  • Introductory Welding Courses

    The introductory courses below are the entry point for individuals who are new to the welding profession.

      An introduction to welding for individuals who would like to try it before investing in more extensive training.
    •  (OPT-394 or CIT-325)
      Learn the fundamentals of professional welding including the welding process, basic metallurgy, welding codes, distortion control and welding symbols.
    •  (OCC-344 or CIT-334)
    •  (OCC-345 or CIT-335)
    •  (OCC-346 or CIT-336)
  • Structural Welding Certifications

    The intermediate welding courses below build on the fundamental course, are specialized in one welding process and culminate in an American Welding Society structural welder certification: AWS D1.1. All structural welding courses require the knowledge from the Fundamentals of Welding or Welding for Work courses. Experienced professional welders may request to enter these courses directly.

  • Specialized Welding Training

    The specialized welding courses below build on the Fundamentals of Welding and structural courses to advance a welder’s skills in specialized welding applications. All specialized welding courses require the completion of the intermediate level of welding. Experienced professional welders may request to enter these courses directly.

Credentials Earned

  • Continuing Education Units awarded. Once you successfully complete all the course requirements of the certificate program with a passing grade or higher, submit a Student Application for a Continuing Education Certificate.
  • Earlbeck Certificate of Completion.
  • Career Structural Welder certificate upon completion of all intermediate level classes.
  • Career Pipe Welder certificate upon completion of the full training.

Upon successful completion of Welding for Work, students earn an 51³Ô¹ÏÍø continuing education certificate for each training (STICK, MIG, TIG) in addition to an American Welding Society (AWS) D1.1 welder certification, CEUs and an Earlbeck Certification of Completion award.
